MACCA Through the Years

MACCA formed in 1969 as a way for HVAC contractors to gather and discuss issues and ideas which were best addressed as a trade rather than as individuals. Since then, MACCA and its members have gained notoriety within the industry at a local, state, and national level.

1969

MACCA drafts its articles of incorporation on October 27.

1990

MACCA becomes a certified proctor for the Mobile area when the EPA begins requiring technician refrigerant certification as part of the Clean Air Act of 1990.

MACCA is active in statewide and local Building and Mechanical Code review and adoption.

1982

MACCA helps establish requirements for Alabama Contractor Certification.

MACCA continually advocates for the interest of HVAC contractors on the local, state, and federal level.

Ongoing

MACCA provides educational seminars, training programs, and meetings to facilitate a working relationship with industry professionals.

1986

MACCA encourages Alabama Power to create the APCO Heat Pump Training Center (now known as the HVAC Training Center).

Ongoing

MACCA forges relationships with key members of the industry, including inspectors, the State Board of HVACR Contractors, utilities, politicians, & the Home Builders Association.
